Feeling overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious or nervous? That’s a sign that your adrenals need some love.  

Most people associate the adrenals with the emotional reactions of fight, flight, or freeze. This may be due to the fact that the adrenals are responsible for producing hormones like cortisol, DHEA, and adrenaline, but there’s way more to the story.

According to Dr Bradley Nelson, author of the book, and creator of ‘The Body Code’ protocol, the adrenals create the following emotions: 

  • Overwhelm & Humiliation

  • Shame & Shock

  • Jealousy & Pride

  • Feeling Unworthy & Worthless

  • Longing & Lust

When these negative emotions are not properly processed by the body at the time an event is experienced, (think excess stress, an accident, trauma, etc.), they can become trapped in the body and create negative physical effects. These emotions could also be inherited. 

Common symptoms of adrenal imbalance include discomfort in the low back and/or left knee, brain fog, fatigue, and compromised immune function, just to name a few. 

Body Code sessions help rebalance the adrenals and help them heal by identifying the underlying cause(s) and releasing it (them). This can include trapped emotions, misalignments in body systems, organs or meridians, physical or energetic pathogens and toxins, deficiencies related to nutrition, water, supplements and more. 

I also recommend applying a couple of drops of dōTERRA Basil & Oregano essential oils directly over the adrenals 2 - 3x per day to help them rebalance and repair. 

Physical movement and exercise, like walking or running, outside if possible, is a great way to help lower cortisol and adrenaline. Deep breathing, meditation, journaling, getting outside in nature, playing with a pet, reducing caffeine, eating healthy, clean, whole foods and drinking plenty of clean water are also effective in reducing excess cortisol and adrenaline levels. 

Please keep in mind that it’s not a ‘one and done’ thing. You need to consciously incorporate these activities into your daily routine and keep at it for a couple of months, or maybe longer, before you really feel the effects. Don’t give up! Just get started doing something. Pick one or two things that you will actually do and be consistent.  

If you’re dealing with chronic overwhelm, or constantly feeling anxious & nervous, examine where you can make changes to eliminate what’s actually causing the stress. This could be a job you hate, your living arrangements, a relationship or whatever, so figure out how you can ease the stress. There may not be anything you can change right this minute, but once you know what needs to change, you can start making plans and taking action towards what you need to do. And it goes without saying that if you need to seek professional assistance, please do that.

Body Code sessions are a direct and simple way to clear the emotional blocks, and get you started on your way to feeling better. Many people get relief after 1 or 2 sessions, but keep in mind that it may take a little longer, especially for deep rooted trauma or other issues.
